convertion / let s do it was originally released on sam records in 1980. it featured the lead vocals of leroy burgess, who was also the lead vocalist for seminal disco tunes like black ivory / main line and logg / i know you will. the sam records catalogue is currently administered by nervous records. nervous has a long standing relationship with superstar producer louie vega, who with his maw partner kenny dope has produced some of nervous most memorable tunes, including the signature nervous release -the nervous track- by nuyorican soul. louie as always a fan of let s do it and wanted to do a remix. unfortunately the original parts were lost. not to be deterred, louie decided to reproduce the record, once again with lead vocals by leroy burgess. the result....let s do it - a louie vega interpration. b-side boogie mix stays close to the original version. the a side dance ritual mix includes that magic louie vega flavor that will make it an immediate essential item for all dj s. the 12- release will be available two months prior to the digital release

get physicals first delivery for 2015 is, yet again, an ep that strays a bit off the beaten track. for this last installment, gpm290, junge junge has called upon australian native kyle pearce to set some velvety vocals to a toned-down, bittersweet delight of a track. the ‚beautiful girl ep opens with its namesake creation, a thumb piano-laden tune decorated by some seriously smoky singing just waiting to transport you far away. its followed by a handful of distinct reworkings, by audiofly who take on a dub remix and spins the song on its head to give it a new psychedelic identity. meanwhile, blond:ish throws it into darker terrain only to have the ‚beautiful girl lifted up by junge junge once again thanks to a slightly different version that turns it into danceable am epic by way of some wisely-placed kicks and claps.

james freud is not the deceased singer of the australian new wave band the models. james freud is not a young art-school dropout with an affinity for electronic music. james freud does not live in berlin - he seems to come out of the blue and it is hard to say whether his production is analogue or digital, whether it is sampled material or sound design. because of the strange maturity of his work the tracks seem to come from both the past and the future. thanks to the digging-qualities of dj good news (who runs the hamburg poem-label) a selection of james freuds oeuvre is now brought to light through the 12inch 5-track extended play - to cut a long story short: mental futurism is wise optimism.

the debut release on office recordings is the first part of a series produced by label founder baaz. in my mind is a subtle, shiny piece of jazzyfied house music with a steady rolling groove and dirty kickdrum. glim bangs the box with deep dubs and a sexy vigorous groove. the flip starts with two mind bending downbeat cuts with a stumbling beat. last but not least a slowburning remix of way out citti by matthias reiling (sessionn victim, giegling recordings) and björn astrup who did a brilliant job twisting the original into a soulful homage to the slow side of house music.

if you re going to have an experience, it might as well be a luxury one. lux experience is a mysterious norwegian producer, who presents us with a selection of steamy late night disco re-edits dripping in luxury, trawling his vinyl collection for the choicest sample material. the shimmering disco boogie of doin it is a tribute to one of norway s longest living club nights, dance dance dance is a cover, not an edit, of the classy chic classic and finally u cant hide is a vintage vocal disco gem.

opening up with the deep space atmospherics of quiet life the album immediately transports you to another world. the title track is then a melodically lush and uplifting affair with curious synth patterns ebbing and flowing beneath crisp percussion. tracks like we search for answers combine organic, wooden textures with more synthetic and trippy synth sounds that are as far away from your standard sample packs as can be imagined. across the course of the album there are dark, moody and emotive pieces like worship (previously released in extended form on the mdl02 single) featuring qzen who reads a poem by patience agbabi in tantalising fashion as well as heavyweight, dubbed out techno groovers like shadow theory. make it true (of which seth troxler will be releasing an extended edit on his play it say it label, complete with high profile remixes) is another great collab featuring the vocals of jojo de freq, and the track itself is a harmonious, radiant house jam that is humid and human in equal measure. the otherworldly, snaking feel free again showcases berkson & what s ability to coax alluring emotions out of their machines and closer logan five wraps things up in suitably spangled, textural fashion. despite the fact much of this album will work on a dancefloor in the hands of the right dj, there s an invention and musicality to it that renders the whole thing hugely listenable away from the club. a testament to berkson & what s analogue invention and fluid ideas, keep up appearances really is a master electronic oeuvre.

new label from brooklyn s nathaniel jay, also known for his love revolution label, and his work as half of soho808. original music by casey tucker, whose recent releases on boe off-shoot, for those who knoe, inspired jay to seek him out. on remix duties, italys underground don, nick anothony simoncino, of l.i.e.s., echovolt, skywax, quintessentials, and his own label, hotmix, to name but a few. nathaniel is promising big things for his new love notes imprint: this is going to be the best thing ive ever done. we ll take him at his word until he gives us reason not to.

ltd warehouse found... the joubert singers – stand on the word remixes available 12inch, including larry levan mix and exclusive reworks by patchworks, panoptikum arkestra & walter mecca. originally recorded live in the first baptist church in crown heights, nyc, in 1982 under celestial choir and pressed only for the congregation, it was then enlighted by walter gibbons (owner of jus born studios and a new born christian at the time of the recording), who acquired a copy and played it out at the 7th av. rock and soul shop, where he worked. >stand on the word< was walters biggest record at the time, says colin gate, who visited the church in order to track down the origins of the song.
